Three banks in the Otukpo district of Benue State were attacked by a band of brazen armed robbers, resulting in heavy casualties. Seven people were killed, including police officers and a former council member who was doing business in one of the banks at the time. It was incredible that the heist went on for so long.

The bank robbery was carried out on a Friday as planned by the courageous crooks. Around 3:15 p.m., they began their actions and used explosives, mainly dynamite, to break into the bank.
